Christina Rousseau was the original owner of the land on which Imhoff Farm is located. She was granted the land in the early 1700’s by Baron Gustav van Imhoff, Commissioner Extraordinaire of the Dutch East India Company, on condition that she grew fresh produce to supply VOC ships at their winter anchorages in Simonstown Bay.
Christina’s Bar is a tribute to the heritage created by this remarkable woman. The bar is a fusion of new and old: modern cocktails and wines offered in a 300-year old building with its thick walls lined with curious and surprising artworks and decor reminiscent of life in the 18th century.
No known images of Christina exist. But in our imagining, she might have looked something like this……
